Poo or Poop? Toilet, Bathroom or Loo?
I’m often asked why I don’t have an ‘off the shelf’ hypnotherapy audio to help with these poo(p) issues
The answer is that the special audio I make for each individual child who has poo / poop problems needs to be completely appropriate for the particular child. A general one is unlikely to work!
So, I ask for detailed information on things like their age, favourite activities, strengths and successes, and of course, also the child’s beliefs and worries about poo(p). Only after I have this information can I write and record an audio that is likely to be their answer to the problem! It is crucial that I tailor the content and vocabulary to the child’s age, interests and individual needs to ensure success.
This is why I don’t have a pre-recorded poo(p) audio for sale… it just wouldn’t get the same effective results!
Using the Appropriate Wording is Vital for Success!
Different words such as “poo” or “poop,” can play a crucial role in helping children overcome toilet issues. Using the right words can have a significant impact on the child’s understanding and engagement.
It’s important for success to use wording that resonates with the individual child based on their age, interests and familiarity.
Nationality, Age and Individuality affect wording
Children’s familiarity with ‘poo terms’ can depend on where they are from. For example, “poo” is more commonly used in the UK, while “poop” is used much more in the US. But it isn’t only nationality that’s important … Using words that fit your child’s individual background and understanding is absolutely crucial to achieving success!
One size certainly doesn’t fit all!
Age Appropriateness is also essential to get positive results!
Age impacts on how children respond to different words, and sometimes families have ‘made up words’ for poo that wouldn’t be used or understood by other people! Younger kids will without a doubt respond better to the words they are familiar with at home, whereas, although still very important, this may not be quite as vital with older children.
Gathering Information from Parents is essential
When you are working with a child, I believe it’s crucial to use words that match the child’s age and understanding. This is why I always write an individual audio for each child who has this sensitive problem and why I haven’t created a general poo / poop audio for sale.
To be honest I spend a crazy amount of time on collecting information from parents before creating an individual audio that addresses toilet issues!
I weave all this into the child’s recording, so they recognize and understand the vocabulary, their interests, likes and dislikes, and importantly their belief or otherwise in magic. It’s crucial to ask the parents how long they think their child could listen to an audio without getting bored or drifting off to sleep halfway through.
All of these issues are of vital importance for success. In this way I can create something that the child loves to listen to and so has the best chance of success.
The more regularly they listen, the more regularly and comfortably they poo(p)!
Parents themselves are usually incredibly stressed … sometimes even more stressed than the child!
As I’m sure you know, stress is extremely catching so helping children deal with this issue is usually a massive relief not just for the child but for the whole family!
Poo(p) success in my career came as an amazing surprise!
When I began my career in psychotherapy and hypnotherapy many years ago, I wouldn’t have dreamt that one of the things I would come to be well known for is helping children overcome this poop problem. Looking back, I would have been astonished at that time if somebody had told me that I would come to be known, weird as it might seem, as the Poo(p) Queen!
